Best field average I ever had was 222 on 4th year no-till corn on corn. Beat everything else that year by more than 20 bushels-looked like heck when I planted it.
Thought I had found the goose that laid the golden egg. Next year same field no-till COC was 30 bushel off. Gave up after 6 years-or was it 7-and put beans back in for 1.
No-till coc isn't easy, but I really haven't seen the residue be a problem in 2nd year at all.
